Comments:

-This was a tough game tonight.  The Kings, despite the fact that they currently in the playoffs, they clearly are still a very strong team.  They were able to dominate the forecheck and play along the boards, and really made it tough for the Rangers to do much of anything in the defensive zone to move forward.

-The Rangers actually got off to a fast start tonight, Miller made a great rush up the boards and then behind the goal, before passing to Zuccarello who beat Quick.  From that point on, the Kings really took over.  Talbot made some big saves, but also a costly turnover behind the net on the second goal.  Nonetheless, it was only 2-1 Kings after 2.

-The Kings came out flying in the third, and scored an early goal when Carter was left open in front for a tap in.  A few minutes later, Muzzin scored, which essentially sealed the deal for the Kings.  They sat back (they only had 4 shots the entire period) and were intent with waiting it out.  The Rangers kept peppering Quick with shots, and managed to score on with about 4 minutes left when Hayes scored his 14th.

-Overall, aside from some defensive breakdowns, the Rangers weren’t awful tonight.  They had their chances (36 SOG), but Quick played well, and the Kings capitalized on their chances.  I think the play of Miller and Fast was a big positive tonight.  They both have looked good lately, which is a promising sign as the team moves forward.

-Next Game

The Rangers will go to the land of the hamburglar.  Hopefully none of the players get hit with hamburgers during the game.  They will face the hot Ottawa Senators at 7:30 on Thursday.
