Rangers Host Noted Jerks

The Rangers host the Kings tonight for the first time since Game 4 of last season’s Cup Finals.

The Kings recently got defenseman Alec Martinez back in their lineup. He scored a goal against the Rangers once, or something.

The 2014-15 season has taken the previous season’s Cup finalists in different directions, at least thus far.  The Rangers are looking to claim first in their Conference, while the Kings, once again, are fighting for a playoff spot — a position they’ve turned into a Cup win before. The Kings currently sit 2 points back of the Flames for the third spot in the Pacific Division and 4 points back of the Jets for the second wild card spot, with a game in hand on both Canadian clubs.

According to Micah Blake McCurdy’s projections, the Kings have a 73.4% chance at the playoffs.

The Rangers are fresh off a goal feast in the midst of a famine Sunday night against the West-leading Ducks. The seven goals the Rangers put up in the 7-2 win is one more than they scored in the four previous games.
