-I really don’t know what the main highlight from this game should be.  They defeated the Hamburgaler, TANNER GLASS scored, and they clinched a playoff spot.  Either way, it was an impressive game tonight for the Rangers.

-The Rangers played and executed really well tonight. They only thing they did wrong was take too many penalties.  However they made up for that by killing off all 6 Ottawa powerplays.

-Kreider had a three point night, including two goals which gives him 20 on the season.  His first goal, which opened the scoring in the game was a beautiful goal in which he used his speed to catch up to a bank pass off the boards from Stepan, and later beat Hammond.

-Ottawa came right back and scored after Kreider’s goal, but then the Rangers responded well when Boyle scored just two minutes later.  From that point on the Rangers really turned on their jets, and took over the game.

-Glass’s goal came off a nice pass from Hayes, just after Glass came out of the penalty box.  Glass shot it past Hammond from the high slot, which subsequently chased Hammond from the game.  For those asking, yes, Glass got the broadway hat (image courtesy of @NYRangers on twitter).

-With the Ducks defeating Boston in overtime, this Rangers win clinched their fifth straight playoff appearence, and their ninth in the past ten seasons.  They are the first team to clinch a playoff spot this year.

-Next Game

The Rangers head to Boston for a 1pm game on Saturday.  It could potentially be Lundqvist’s return to the lineup.
